Wilgerbosdrift’s successful stallion Fire Away had a good day at the Vaal on Thursday. Fire Away sired runners won the third and eighth races respectively, with Fire Away represented by just those runners on Thursday.
Fire Away looks to have a very promising filly to his name in the form of Warm Reception.
The latter, a first winner for the new training partnership of Candice and Tammy Dawson, made it two wins from three starts when she won Thursday’s Play Soccer 6,10 and 13 FM 98 Divided Handicap (1600m).
Under Muzi Yeni, Warm Reception was always going well and the Fire Away sired three-year-old kept galloping to win convincingly by just over three-parts of a length.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Warm Reception had won impressively on debut before contesting the G3 TAB Starling Stakes, and she looks destined for better things.
Warm Reception is out of the Tiger Ridge mare Folk Dance.
Fire Away is also the sire of Sky Pillar Rock, who received a fine ride from Savanna Valjalo to win Thursday’s TAB 4Racing App MR 66 Apprentice Handicap.
The Robyn Klaasen trained four-year-old stayed on strongly to score by a length and three quarters, with Sky Pillar Rock having now won twice.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Sky Pillar Rock races for Messrs P M Chetty & R Chetty.
His sire Fire Away, whose runners earned more than R8.774 million last season, is set to be represented in Saturday’s.
