WILGERBOSDRIFT OFFER 22 AT TWO YEAR OLD SALE


Wilgerbosdrift will be offering a 22 strong draft at the 2018 National Two Year Old Sale, which takes place at the TBA complex on August 16th and 17th.
The draft includes lots by the likes of Duke Of Marmalade, Elusive Fort, Flower Alley, Ideal World, Oratorio, Silvano and the farm’s hugely popular young stallion Soft Falling Rain.

Multiple champion sire Silvano is represented in the Wilgerbosdrift draft by a regally bred colt by the name of Wild Rice (Lot 11). This well bred colt, whose winning dam is a half-sister to G1 Majorca Stakes winner Blueridge Mountain, is from the same family as international G1 winners Misty For Me, Menifee, U S Navy Flag, Desert Wine, Roly Poly, Fasliyev and Les Arcs –to name but a few.

Resident Wilgerbosdrift stallions Flower Alley and Soft Falling Rain are represented here by eight and two lots respectively.

Travers Stakes winner Flower Alley, the first stallion to come to South Africa having sired a Kentucky Derby winner, is responsible for a colt (Lot 94) whose dam is an own sister to multiple G1 winner and Equus Champion Mother Russia (dam of dual Empress Club Stakes winner Nother Russia), a colt (Lot 100) whose dam is a half-sister to champion Asylum Seeker, a son (Lot 101) of Queen Palm Handicap victress Treaj Pots, and a colt (Lot 156) from the same family as current G1 performer Twist Of Fate.

Other interesting lots among the Flower Alley string include the colt (Lot 159) out of a G1 SA Fillies Classic winner Athina, and a colt (Lot 306) whose granddam is Equus Champion and G1 winner Rat Burana.

Soft Falling Rain, leading first crop sire by aggregate at both the 2018 National and Cape Premier Sales, is the sire of a filly (Lot 314) whose winning dam is a half-sister to dual Guineas winning sire Noordhoek Flyer, and a filly (Lot 394) out of Tiger Ridge’s G2 placed daughter Mombasa.

European champion and proven G1 sire Oratorio is represented by a colt (Lot 191) out of a winning daughter of top sire and broodmare sire Shamardal, whose relatives include Laurel Futurity winner Western Echo.

Increasingly successful sire Ideal World, whose recent stars include Rainbow Bridge, Inverroche and Coral Bay, has three here. His trio includes a half-brother (Lot136) to high class performers Zanzamar and Ziparana, and a filly (Lot 249) out of a winning Fort Wood half-sister to Noordhoek Flyer.

Cartier Champion Duke Of Marmalade is represented by a half-brother (Lot 374) to G1 Thekwini Stakes second Melliflora, while another proven G1 sire represented, the Wilgerbosdrift bred Elusive Fort, is the sire of a colt (Lot 352) whose dam is a half-sister to feature race winner Buscador.

Royal Ascot and G1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes winner Byword has five two-year-olds on offer, with his contingent including a half-sister (Lot 4) to high class 2yo Oomph, a filly (Lot 19) from the remarkably prolific Party Time family, a filly (Lot 41) out of a four time winning Silvano mare whose relatives include outstanding sire Pivotal, a colt (Lot 129) whose granddam is a half-sister to G1 Fillies’ Mile winner Crystal Music, and a colt (Lot 199) whose G1 winning third dam is a half-sister to 3 other G1 winners –including South African champion sire/broodmare sire Fort Wood.
