Three out of three for Folk Dance

The Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein bred Folk Dance showed her class when defeating the previously unbeaten Aurelia Cotta by three and a quarter lengths over 1400m at Turffontein on Saturday.

It was another six lengths back to smart filly, and third place finisher, Twelve Oaks in the juvenile plate for fillies.

Trained by Paul Peter, and ridden to victory by Ryan Munger, the 2yo Folk Dance powered clear to score her third win –from as many outings-and stamp herself a potential feature race contender in the making.

Folk Dance, owned by Thalente Myeni, George O’Brien and the Hyperpaint Syndicate, was a R100 000 buy from last year’s National Yearling Sale.

Bred on the same cross as G1 winners Cherry On The Top and Noah From Goa, Folk Dance is by Wilgerbosdrift’s ill-fated sire Tiger Ridge (also sire of recent G1 winner Nother Russia) and out of Fort Wood mare Liberty Dance.
