Soft Falling Rain brother entered for Summer Cup


Wilgerbosdrift’s well performed young sire Soft Falling Rain, whose first yearlings come up for sale in 2018, has a half-brother who has been nominated for the G1 Sansui Summer Cup, to be run at Turffontein on November 25th.

Let It Rain, a Dynasty half-brother to Soft Falling Rain, holds an entry in the R2 000 000 Cup. The gelding has won or placed in fourteen races, and was third, to champion Hermoso Mundo, in the Gold Cup last time out.

Soft Falling Rain’s dam, Gardner’s Delight, has been a consistently successful broodmare –her five winners including not only Equus Champion Soft Falling Rain, but two other black type performers, as well as My Nephew Eric –who earned over HK$2 million when competing in Hong Kong.

Her triple US champion sire Giant’s Causeway, already damsire of more than 50 stakes winners , is enjoying a stellar year as a broodmare sire in 2017 –not only is Giant’s Causeway damsire of multiple G1 winner and leading Breeders’ Cup contender Gun Runner, but also recently G3 Oklahoma Derby winner Untrapped, and unbeaten G3 Iroqouis Stakes winner The Tabulator –considered a leading Kentucky Derby contender for next year.

Soft Falling Rain, an unbeaten champion at two, was a superb athlete who won major races in three different countries.

His victories included the G1 SA Nursery, G2 Joel Stakes and G2 Godolphin Mile –Soft Falling Rain was the first 3yo ever to lift the G2 Godolphin Mile.
