SIRE NEWS: BLUE BLOODED TIGER DOMINATES


Wilgerbosdrift’s superbly bred sire, Tiger Ridge, dominated Gauteng racing on Saturday.

His son, Wagner, captured the R2 million Sansui Summer Cup, while Tiger Ridge filly, Cherry On The Top, won the G3 Fillies Mile for veteran trainer Ormonde Ferraris.

Wagner, who previously won the Listed Secretariat Stakes, won an emotional Summer Cup for trainer, Joey Soma, who had tragically lost his wife earlier in the year.

Cherry on The Top looks a classic type, judging on her fluent win in the

Tiger Ridge, who was leading first crop sire both in Florida and South Africa, is a half-brother, by Storm Cat, to leading US sires, Summer Squall and A P Indy. He is also from the same family as former champion SA sire Al Mufti (himself sire of current leading South African sire Captain Al).

This tremendous family has also produced the likes of Breeders Cup winner Court Vision, and the young SA sire, Mambo In Seattle (himself a former G1 Travers Stakes runner up).
