NOTHER RUSSIA CROWNED EQUUS CHAMPION!

The Wilgerbosdrift bred Nother Russia enjoyed yet more glory when the daughter of Tiger Ridge was crowned Equus Champion Older Filly/Mare for the recently concluded 2017-2018 South African racing season.

Nother Russia, who retired having won or placed in 17 of her 18 races, won three times in 2017-2018, with her victories including a repeat score in the G1 HSH Princess Charlene Empress Club Stakes and the G2 Ipi Tombe Challenge. She ended her illustrious career when finishing fourth, to Coral Fever, in the G1 Premier’s Champions Challenge.

Overall, the Mike de Kock trained mare won eight races, and banked more than R2.85 million in prize money.

A charismatic chestnut, the gutsy Nother Russia was a R550 000 buy from the 2014 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale and she raced for Mauritzfontein.

The only foal produced by fellow Equus Champion Mother Russia, Nother Russia, only ever ridden in a race by Craig Zackey, has been retired to stud –and she rates a truly exceptional broodmare prospect!
