ILHA’S DAUGHTER OFF THE MARK!

Gutsy filly, One Of A Kind, a daughter of Wilgerbosdrift’s late, great Ilha Da Vitoria, got off the mark at the Vaal on Thursday.

The beautifully bred filly, trained like her famous mother by Mike de Kock, was given a superb ride by jockey Ryan Munger, who timed his challenge to perfection when the pair teamed up to score over 1400 metres.

The diminutive One Of A Kind, sired by the Wilgerbosdrift bred champion Dynasty, is the sixth winner produced by former Horse Of The Year Ilha Da Vitoria, who sadly died last year.

The daughter of Candy Stripes, was a truly great racemare, whose 10 wins included the G1 Horse Chestnut Stakes and G1 Summer Cup.
Ilha also did well at stud, and left behind the top class stakes winners Ilha Grande (Oaks Trial) and Ilha Bela (G2 SA Oaks).

Ilha Da Vitoria’s daughters are also now making their presence felt at stud, with Ilha Grande dam of the very exciting filly Orchid Island (Silvano), who holds an entry in the G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas and G2 Betting World Gauteng Guineas.

Thursday was a day to remember for Wilgerbosdrift, who are also breeders of My Treasure (who picked up his fourth career win when scoring at the Vaal) and the classy Noah From Goa, who impressed with a gallant runner up effort in the G2 Zabeel Mile at Meydan.  It is surely only a matter of time before Noah From Goa, winner of the 2015 G1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas, lands a decent Dubai prize!
