FOURTH WIN FOR FLOWER ALLEY FILLY

Wilgerbosdrift’s well performed stallion Flower Alley had a dominant US winner on Thursday when his four-year-old daughter A Lovely Rose landed an allowance race at Finger Lakes in facile style.

The Michael Ferraro trained filly romped home in the one mile 70 yards contest, putting three lengths between herself and her opponents.

Thursday’s victory took A Lovely Rose’s winning tally to four, with the Flower Alley filly having won three of her six races in 2018.

Out of the Gold Token mare Lovely Daniella, A Lovely Rose is one of 40 black type horses for her G1 Travers Stakes winning sire.

Flower Alley, whose eagerly awaited first South African crop race this season, has a number of high class daughters to his name, notably G1 Ashland Stakes winner Lilacs And Lace, champion My Wandy’s Girl, G3 Delta Princess Stakes winner Bouquet Booth and 11 time stakes winner Awesome Flower.

A son of champion sire Distorted Humor, and from the same family as breed shaping sire Lyphard, Flower Alley’s best runner, to date, is US champion I’ll Have Another. The latter was recently repatriated to North America, where I’ll Have Another will stand at stud for 2019.

The chestnut I’ll Have Another won five of just seven outings, with the champion’s principal wins coming in the 2012 G1 Kentucky Derby and G1 Preakness Stakes. To date, I’ll Have Another has been responsible for 118 winners.
