Flower Alley filly makes it three out of four

Splash Hit, a daughter of Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting young sire Flower Alley, made it win number three (from just four starts) when running out an easy winner of the Cajun Miss Stakes on Friday night.

The three-year-old, who made all to win first time out, was coming into the 1400m contest off a nine length romp at Delta Downs.

Splash Hit, who was sent off a 8-1 shot for the Cajun Miss, dueled through a sharp first quarter in :22.48. Seizing command, she clocked a half in :45.92 and, despite drifting back and forth a bit in the stretch, edged clear late to lead home a Bret Calhoun trifecta.

She is the 18th stakes winner for her sire Flower Alley, whose previous top runners include the Kentucky Derby winning champion I’ll Have Another.

Flower Alley’s previous high class daughters include champion My Wandy’s Gal, G1 Ashland Stakes winner Lilacs And Lace and G3 winner Bouquet Booth.

The G1 Travers Stakes winner, whose relatives include the great sire Lyphard, is a son of US champion sire Distorted Humor –also the broodmare sire of the world’s current top rated runner, Arrogate.
