EMERALD BEAUTY COLT IN DEMAND AT NYS

An Oratorio colt out of Wilgerbosdrift’s top class mare Emerald Beauty proved in keen demand at last week’s National Yearling Sale in Germiston.

The handsome grey was knocked down to Tony Millard for R2.2 million, and was the third top colt sold at the National Sale of 2017.
His dam Emerald Beauty, by Equalize, was a top class racemare, whose local victories included the 2003 G1 Cape Fillies Guineas, where she accounted for none other than Wilgerbosdrift’s late, great champion Ilha Da Vitoria.

Emerald Beauty, who is a member of the famed E family, was subsequent exported to Dubai where she won at Nad Al Sheba over a mile.

Since retiring to stud, Emerald Beauty has produced four winners including the smart 2yo Right Beauty and six time winner Emerald Approach.

Wilgerbosdrift also consigned a colt from the last crop of Fort Wood to fetch R1.6 million to the bidding of Form Bloodstock.

This colt is the first crop out of Oasis Dream’s G2 winner and millionaire Welwitschia, whose victories included the G2 Diadem Stakes where she accounted for triple G1 winner and popular young sire Jackson.
