DERBY ON THE CARDS FOR RAIN BROTHER

Let It Rain, a half-brother to Wilgerbosdrift’s well performed young sire Soft Falling Rain, picked up the fourth win of his career when victorious at Turffontein on Sunday.
Trained by Weiho Marwing, the four-year-old was given a superb ride by Weichong Marwing, who made all the running and kept Let It Rain going well, despite being challenged strongly by runner up Wild Horizon in the closing stages.

The consistent Let It Rain, runner up in the recent G3 Caradoc Gold Cup, stayed on gamely to prevail by head over Wild Horizon.

Connections suggested after the race, that Let It Rain could be aimed at the G3 Track And Ball Derby later in the season.

The Highlands Farm bred Let It Rain (who was sired by Wilgerbosdrift bred champion Dynasty) was a R1.3 million buy from the 2014 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

He is one of three black type performers produced by the Giant’s Causeway mare Gardener’s Delight, whose son Soft Falling Rain was South Africa’s Equus Champion 2YO Colt in 2012 and Champion Miler in the UAE in 2012-2013.

Soft Falling Rain’s first yearlings will sell in 2018.
