Bought at Goffs a few years ago, the daughter of Oasis Dream proves her class by making short work of her field at Turffontein today. Anthony Delpech, looked behind him 100m from the post and saw himself clear. He did not lift his stick. Wilgerbosdrift is thrilled with the Irish import, selected by Jehan Malherbe and trained by Mike de Kock. We can't wait to see what comes next...

ILHA BELA
Ilha Bela, the two year old filly out of Ilha Da Vitoria by Fort Wood beat a strong field of older fillies at Greyville yesterday. Over 1400m, she was the only 2 year old in the field and won easily. Wilgerbosdirft is over the moon to have bred such a smart filly and being out of the champion and sweetheart of the farm, Ilha Da Vitoria, makes it even more special. All being well, she will aim at the Gr 1 on Gold Cup Day. Congratulations to all the connections.

NOORDHOEK FLYER RETIRES TO STUD
Cape Guineas Champion Noordhoek Flyer, will retire to the Gary Player Stud this year. Bred by Wilgerbosdrift and sold at the 2008 National Yearling Sales for R2.5 million, Noordhoek Flyer is by the champion speed sire, Pivotal, who himself has sired in excess of 90 stakes winners. his dam Serra Negra is by the miler Kris, who is the broodmare sire, of Invincible Spirit. Wilgerbosdrift wishes all those involved huge success with Noordhoek Flyers stud career and see him as a hugely appealing addition to the South African Sires list.

FIRST WINNER FOR RIGHT APPROACH
Wilgerbosdrift is thrilled that Right Approach has had his first winner! Approachable, a bay colt, bred by Glynis Van Der Merwe and trained by Weiho Marwing won a 1400m race at the Vaal. The colt beat what appears to have been a very strong field, winning by a length and a half. Congratulations to Mr. P.J.Kalil and Mrs SEM Louw.

RIGHT APPROACH COLT TOPS CAPE YEARLING SALE
Congratulations go to Mike Barnard's Daytona Stud who topped the Cape Yearling Sales last weekend, with their Right Approach colt out of the Sportsworld mare, Hockey Corner. Lot 91, Whiteline Fever, is out of a dam who is a half sister to Laptop Lady who produced Jay Peg and Cyber Case. The yearling was bought by Chris Van Niekerk for Sean Tarry and Wilgerbosdrift wishes all the connections huge success in his racing career. We are thrilled for Daytona Stud and wish them heartfelt congratulations.

STUNNING START TO TIGER RIDGE'S SOUTH AFRICAN CAREER
Huge congratulations go to the Eckerts of Highflyer Stud who bred Burmese Cat, the first Tiger Ridge to run and win in South Africa. The 2 year old ran for the first time last Tuesday at the Turffontein night meeting and won in flying fashion. Trained by Mike De Kock and ridden to Victory by Johnny Geroudis, the colt has now been entered into the Juvenille feature on J&B Met day later this month. Special mention goes to Di De Kock who prepared the Tiger Ridge and it is very exciting for the Tiger Ridge Syndicate to owns the horse. Wilgerbosdrift is hugely proud that the stallions first local runner won so well.

ROSEBUD'S RIDGE WINS $150000-00
The Florida-bred two year old adds to Tiger Ridge’s winning tally in the USA. Rosebud’s Ridge by Tiger Ridge out of Sarah Rosebud by Unreal Zeal won the Juvenile showcase, Susan’s Girl at Calder Course last weekend. The filly led from start to finish and Herman Wilensky, who bred and trains the filly was quoted in saying that “She has just gotten better and better”. The race was over 7 furlongs and Cecilio Penalba, who felt that the run has brought her on tremendously, rode the filly to victory. Wilgerbosdrift is thrilled with the win and wishes all the connections, heartiest congratulations.

A WINNER FOR TIGER RIDGE AT ROYAL ASCOT
Strike The Tiger fly’s the flag for Tiger Ridge at Royal Ascot. Tiger Ridge spent a handful of seasons in the US before being imported to South Africa. The last of his northern hemisphere crops has produced the 2-year-old colt, Strike The Tiger out of Lucky Strike. On the 16th of June this year, his trainer Wesley Ward and owners Mitch Dutko and Ray Sainz, became the first US based contingent to lead in a winner at Ascot’s most prestigious event. Strike The Tiger went off at 33-1 in a field of 22 horses, winning the Windsor Castle Stakes and keeping his victorious record intact. Since returning to the US, he has won his 3rd of 3 starts and looks set to continue his very exciting career. Congratulations to all the winning connections.

ONE WEE ACORN'S 3RD WIN IN HONG KONG
One Wee Acorn, previously Tyndrum won his third race in Hong Kong last weekend. It is his third win from four starts and Wilgerbosdrift wishes all the connections their heartiest congratulations. One Wee Acorn is by Rich Man's Gold out of Cathay Firth, and is a full brother to Kildonan who was the Equus Champion 2yr old colt in South Africa before leaving for Dubai. Wilgerbosdrift is proud to announce his return to South Africa to take up stud duties in 2009, filling the void that his sire Rich Man's Gold left at the farm a few years ago.

HAPPY CHRIS WINS EASY
Happy Chris (BRZ), a filly by Roi Normand out of Indian Chris showed her class at Kenilworth today (15/02/09) winning her second start with authority. Happy chris is a half sister to Eye Of The Tiger and was bred at Fazenda Mondesir in brazil. She is trained by Dean Kannemeyer, and is an exciting prospect for Wilgerbosdrift.

TIGER RIDGE MARE WINS ANOTHER G2!
Leah's Secret, a 5yr mare by Tiger Ridge out of a Capote mare won another Group Two this weekend, when she secured victory in the Top Flight Handicap at Aquaduct (USA) for $150,000. Trainer Todd PLetcher was thrilled and hopes now to aim her at the Sunshine Millions in January. the mares other group wins include the 2006 Raven Run Stakes (G2) at Keenland and the Chicago Handicap (G3) at Arlington Park. the mare has now won $865,805 in prize money, and Wilgerbosdrift wishes Winstar their heartiest congratulations.

CRESSIDA wins in fine style, to the delight of her owners. The Cape summer season gets off to a great start. Cressida's previous run had been a good second to another Wilgerbosdrift owned filly Malmaison, so the form is looking good. Cressida is a 3 year old filly by National Assembly out of Sylvan Crest.

Hemingway won in "ernest"
On Tuesday the 18th of November, Hemingway the Brazilian son of Ghadeer, sailed through to win a merit rated 81 Handicap at Kenilworth. Trained by Dean Kannemeyer and ridden by MJ Byleveld, the colt dominated the race throughout. He has now won two of his four starts and the connections are thrilled.

MALMAISON GETS THERE
Malmaison (AUS), the Wilgerbosdrift import, won her third start at Kenilworth on Tuesday the 11th of November. The filly is by French Deputy out of Dontstealmyroses and was imported from Australia last year. Ridden by MJ Byleveld, she came through to win over 1200m from a 13 draw.

MARK OF ESTEEM FILLY
On a recent trip to Brazil, the Wilgerbosdrift team managed to buy a Mark Of Esteem filly on auction at the Brazil Jockey club on the 31st of July. The filly is out of a mare called Letme Tell You who is the full sister to SINISTRO, a multiple group winner and a half sister to Brazil's Champion 2y-old Colt, TOP SIZE. The filly Let It Be, was bought from Sao Jose Do Bom Retiro.

ROSE LIPPED MAIDEN - TWO ON THE TROT
Rose Lipped Maiden was a facile winner in yesterday's FM 84 Handicap at Kenilworth. Trained by Dean Kannemeyer and ridden by M J Byleveld, she secured her fourth career win, the last two consecutively. Although she jumped slow out the gates, the jockey had her perfectly placed and she sailed through to win impressively.

A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT
Due to the heavy rains in the Western Cape, there is a new stream running straight through one of the yearling paddocks. it runs off from the surrounding mountains and poses a feature in what during the summer months looks remarkably like a desert.

Mar Del Plata
A filly given to Fieldspring Racing (Karen) and Jessica Slack last year as a birthday gift, has sailed through to win her maiden in style. She is a two year old filly by Rich Man's Gold out of Copa De Plata (Brz) by Ghadeer. Mar Del Plata is a first foal who is trained by Dean Kannemeyer and was ridden to victory by Grant Behr. The filly jumped smartly to lead from the start and won by three at Durbanville. The connections are hugely excited and the trainer seems confident that there is more to come.

MILK AND HONEY
(USA), a fluent debut winner at Scottsville on her first outing. She is by Belong To Me (USA), a top sire of especially fillies, from Perfect Valley, who is in turn in half-sister to Riboletta, one of the greates fillies ever to race, and Super Power, multiple Grade 1 winner in Brazil. Riboletta was a champion in Brazil and then won five Grade 1s in the US, she was also an Eclipse Award winner. Milk and Honey was bred by Haras De Gabba and is owned by Haras de Gabba Syndicate (nominee Jessica Slack). Milk and Honey's half-brother, Happy Valley, by leading American stallion Alphabet Soup was bought by Mike De Kock for his Arab connections at this years National Yearling sales.
Milk and Honey has won three of her starts, the most recent of which was at Clairwood on Champions Day.

TOUCH OF TUSCAN - WINNER FIRST TIME OUT
Touch Of Tuscan, (Al Mufti-Doradella) made her first appearance at the races on the 26th of February. Trained by Paddy Kruyer, she was obviously showing a lot at home and started second favourite in the maiden plate at Durbanville. She cantered down to the start as if she had done it a million times before and jumped out of the gates with her ears pricked. She went to the front early, and led all the way winning easily by a length and a half. Her connections were all smiles as they lead her into the number one box, and Paddy Kruyer has high hopes for her future. Wilgerbosdrift congratulates Barry Ansell and Ian Longmore and wish them everything of the best in her racing career ahead.

Via Della wins the Sun Classique Fillies Handicap (L)
It was a black type victory for Wilgerbosdrift on the 8th of March this year when Via Della conquered her field in the Sun Classique Handicap at Kenilworth. Trained by Mike Bass she has won three races and placed five times in only nine starts, this race of course being her most important so far. Via Della is by National Assembly out of Doradella.
